This was a project made to simulate an on-campus ad, but was not actually used anywhere. The overall theme of my poster is that it has an artsy feel to it, figuring you make music with a guitar and music is an art and most musicians are probably into the arts that it would be a good idea to go with this theme. Therefore, the background is a painted texture and I used a paintbrush stroke for the callouts.

This was a project made to simulate a WWF poster, but was not actually used anywhere. The point of my public service announcement is these animal species are diminishing; if we do not do anything to help save them then they will eventually go extinct. The concept behind my design is that the animals are somewhat deteriorating, they are starting to crack and fall apart but they are not gone completely…yet.

This was a project made to simulate an ad campaign, but was not actually used anywhere. The main concept of Immortal Ink is that it donates 25% of the money you spend on your tattoo to the American Red Cross. Personally I haven't been able to donate blood for five years now because if you get a tattoo you must wait one full year until you are eligible again. Therefore, I incorporated the American Red Cross's logo into my own logo.

Internship at Specialty Commerce Corporation

In the Spring of 2013 I interned at SCC where I provided web maintenance, production edits, and supported the senior web designer. The position involved the production & design of e-mails and web maintenance for their various web sites. Responsibilities included photo-touching and resizing images for the company web sites, making edits to creative projects, follow branding standards, and working with the senior web designer on various creative projects.

Logos/Identity

Being an alumni of Coe-Brown Northwood Academy and its cross country and track programs, the team often contacts me asking to design for them. For two consecutive years I worked with the event managers for the Run to Fall 5k that takes place at the school. The challenge was developing a logo that looked different than the year before, but still remained within their theme and conformed to a duo-chromatic color palette. They were used on the race’s shirts, mugs, brochures and website.

This logo was created to replace a previous one. Knowing the client very well, I was able to choose a typeface and design that represented her personality much better. The logo was used on business cards, t-shirts, and sweatshirts.

This is a company that helps other companies who need virtual infrastructure with engineers that can implement. The tree symbolizes networking. Although it was never used, I rather liked the concept.

My friend is in the Wakeboarding club at Coastal Carolina University, she contacted me asking if I would design a shirt for her that had their mascot wakeboarding on it. The school’s mascot is Chauncey the Chanticleer, a mean looking rooster. Instead of using his intimidating look I went for a more casual feel, trying to capture the idea of “hang loose”.

This was a logo redesign I had to create as a test for an internship interview. I went for an overall organic feel. When I researched the company some words that stood out were: authentic, fresh, and family. Since this is a family-run business and they mention how all the products are hand picked, I wanted to give the logo more of a personal touch. My design is clean, simple, and symmetrical.

The Residence Hall Association Advisor for Stonehill College contacted me saying I was recommended by a professor to help him develop a creative logo for the RHA. He was looking for a design that was edgy and creative but symbolized Stonehill and the residence halls. The logo will be marketed and displayed everywhere. Overseeing 94% of the student population, it will be used to attract students and will be taken to regional and national conferences.

This is a logo I created for a package design class, it is an engagement ring box. Emperor penguins spend their whole lives looking for their soul mate and remain faithful to them for life; Adelie penguins give a pebble to the one they desire and if it is accepted they are mates for life. I think in general most people associate all penguins with the thought of soul mates and only being with one penguin for life, so I thought it was perfect for an engagement ring company.

This was my first time making a 3D logo. Busby Construction is the company my dad works for. The logo they have right now is this cute, simple bumblebee, something you might find painted on the wall of a baby’s room. Therefore, my main goal for this logo was to create a masculine and tough image. The bee has big strong arms, a pointy stinger and a mean face. I gave him a hammer on a tool belt and a hard hat to show he is a construction worker. This logo was not actually used anywhere.

For the Stonehill senior sweatshirts the senior student committee held a contest for the design. I submitted this design that incorporates the clock from the quad that everyone is familiar with. The clock becomes the “o” in “senior” and the “1” in “2014” and if you look close enough you will notice it is also 2:14. After long, agonizing weeks of waiting, they informed me that I had won the contest and now everyone walks around campus with my design plastered on their backs (which is pretty cool)

This is the logo I created for my portfolio. I'm a Graphic Design major, Dance minor so I figured I'd combine the two. "En avant" in French means "forward", if you're in fourth position en avant, you're facing the front, as opposed to arrière, which would be towards the back. So I chose "en avant designs" for my company name (because moving forwards is much better than moving backwards).

My dad and his friend do maple syruping every year. They tap a bunch of trees and end up with a ton of syrup which they always give away. This year I thought it'd be fun to make them a logo so I incorporated a leaf, banner and motorcycle tire to create a vintage-looking design. I ordered stickers through Vistaprint with the logo on them so my dad would be able to put them on mason jars and give them out.

Packages/3D Work

For a class, I designed this can to have an organic feel. Chocolate Hazelnut is the flavor so my main colors are different shades of orange and brown. For the background image I used a grungy texture that looks almost like a coffee stain; expressing an overall earthy feel. The main image is the cup of cocoa. It has whipped cream and looks very appealing. I feel like customer would want to buy it because it has a warm aspect that makes you want to snuggle up with a nice cup of hot cocoa.

Bluebird Vineyards was a self-directed project created to test my skills in developing a marketing campaign for a package design. I started out by redesigning the look of Blackbird Vineyards and then continued to create three cohesive wines: Arise, Illustration, and Paramour. Using the three I was able to make business cards, coasters, wine glass charms, a small reference book called “A Guide to Wine” and a website.

For a class, I designed my 100 proof vodka labels to have a harsh, edgy feel, figuring Predator would be an appropriate name. I made my label wrap around the entire bottle using edgy, different-sized lines instead of one smooth one. I also created a label for the inside so you could see it when you are looking at the back of the bottle. Inside is the eye of the animal on the front which is kind of spooky. I also made small icons for each individual cap.

For a class, I made a jewelry box for engagement rings, the company is called True Companion (all fake) and the logo is an image of two penguins, a male and a female, coming together to form the shape of a heart. The aspect about my design that is different is my box design itself, it does not open like a regular ring box with a hinge, but instead opens into thirds.

For a class, I made two tea boxes for the same brand, but for two different prices. The bottom left box would be slightly more expensive than the bottom right. The tea flavor is “youthberry wild orange blossom”, hence the play on the word “immortality”. Both boxes have warm colors to reflect the orange flavor and also have flowers for the blossom flavor.

I came up with this design for the wedding favors for my sister's wedding, wooden coasters that my dad hand-cut. We sent it to a wood-branding company and they sent us a brand with my exact design on it. In the end we had about 200 homemade coasters from several different kinds of wood (birch, oak, dogwood, etc.), all individually sanded, shellacked, and branded by hand.

These are all examples of the work I produced in a 3D graphics program, Strata 3D.
Posters

Each month Smashing Magazine holds a calendar design contest. Hundreds of designers submit designs and they pick a handful of winners. I submitted this design for the January contest and was very excited to find that they actually chose mine! Click "Go to Link" to go to the page with mine and all the other winning designs.

This was a project made to simulate a human rights poster, but was not actually used anywhere. My poster is based on the article that says “Everyone has the right to a nationality”, I incorporated an Indian girl who is expressing a concerned or sad look and placed the type over her face, using her eye as the “o”.

In 2012 I volunteered at The Charity Guild in Brockton, MA. Most of my work consisted of designing flyers or publications to try and get them more publicity. This is a poster for a competition they held called The Voice of Champions, I went for a colorful, fun look to draw attention to passers-by.

While working for InHouse Design at Stonehill, one of my projects was to create a poster for the Stonehill Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) program announcing that application deadlines were coming up. I put the information on a slant to give it a more dynamic look, it captures your eye more than a standard flat poster.

This was a project made to simulate a movie poster, but was not actually used anywhere. For this poster I created the helmet in Strata 3D (as see in my "Packages/3D Work" section) then brought the background image and type in using Photoshop to create a cohesive movie poster.

This was a project made to simulate a Poetry in Motion poster, but was not actually used anywhere. Poetry in Motion is today one of the most popular public literary programs in American history. As a typography project I designed this poem by Robert Frost, portraying it with minimal design and just two colors.

This portrait is a typography poster made out the letters of her name, Sarah. It was not used anywhere.

This portrait is made completely out of type. It's is made out of adjectives that describe me: tough, witty, competitive, daring, silly, outgoing, zesty, mischievous, enthusiastic, funny, impulsive, sarcastic & lively.

I enjoy photoshopping in my spare time, more often than not I create unique self-portraits. This is an image I had seen many times on the internet, half person half animal, and I wanted to make one of my own.

This self-portrait was for an art history project on Shepard Fairey. After researching his work it was clear he had a specific style that included an influential figure made from layers of warm, contrasting colors.

For this portrait I followed an online tutorial on how to turn yourself into an avatar. This was one of my favorites because of all the small details such as placing each individual dot, the speckles on the nose and the smudged stripes.

For this self-portrait I followed an online tutorial on lighting effects and illusions.

These are flyers for the Johns Hopkins University a cappella group The Octopodes. They were used to create publicity for their Spring and Fall concerts. I made one for each individual member (about 15-20) for both concerts so they could set them as their Facebook profile pictures

Publications

These are flyers I designed for Julep Bar, they are a Boston-based restaurant group with 11 different locations ranging from an upscale French Restaurant, an Irish Pub, Nightclub, and Suburbian Restaurant. This restaurant is a french bistro so I used the french colors and a script, french-like font.

Blue Inc. is owned by Jason Santos, he is known around town for his blue hair and quirky recipes. It is located in the Financial District of Boston where the city had recently developed the Rose Kennedy Greenway, bringing many food trucks that detracted from business at local restaurants. So they developed this "Picnic To-Go" menu and asked me to design it. This way people who work in the area can order a cheap to-go lunch option from Blue Inc. and enjoy their food outside.

This was a typography project made to simulate a recipe, but was not actually used anywhere. Overall I was going for an organic feel so I incorporated the stained paper texture and chose a handwritten font. I used the green swirl to give it some life, but used a brush stroke to give it a personal touch.

The following are publications for my sister’s wedding. (Her husband is in the Navy, hence all the anchors.) I mostly went with a typographic design with a few graphic images here and there to add to the overall casual feel as seen in the mad lib RSVP and fun program.

This is an infographic about vegetarianism in America I designed. I'm a vegetarian myself and I always get tired of people asking me why I am so I thought this infographic would be a fun way to display my reasons.

My aunt is an Interpreter for the Deaf and needed a new business card.

Every year the graphic design seniors at Stonehill put on an exhibit which showcases our work. Here are images that allow you to virtually walk through what we did.

Videography
Websites

Persnickety Designs was my very first online portfolio, made in Adobe Muse.

First World Probz was the first website I ever made using Adobe Dreamweaver, relying mostly on HTML code. Each icon goes to a page where they tell 8 different "first world problems" within their category. For example, if you click on the Food icon, one phrase says "I filled up so much on my appetizer..." then when you hover over it says, "Now I can’t finish my entrée"
